The popularity of mineral foundation stems from its all natural and sustainable minerals. The minerals used are inert which means they won’t react with anything. So, essentially they will not decay and last much longer than other types of make up. The shelf life of most make up is only between four and eight months. Not only will mineral foundation last longer than most make up, you’ll have to use less of it. Mineral foundation’s concealment abilities are very high, which ensures that a little bit will go a long way.

Most mineral foundations are only made from a handful of different minerals. This is made possible by the natural attributes of the minerals. The minerals used are already perfectly suited for use in cosmetics which is why they don’t need a lot of the fillers needed in other foundations such as perfume, binding agents, preservatives and so on.  This is because the minerals used are inert and there isn’t anything added that could cause a possible a break out. I’ll list some of the minerals that make up mineral foundations: Zinc Oxide, Sericite Mica, and Magnesium Stearate. These minerals also have a natural resistance to the sun’s radiation and they have a classification of SPF 15. This isn’t enough to be completely protected from the harmful rays of the sun but can provide very good protection when used in conjunction with sun block.
